Law of Intentionality (The 15 Invaluable laws of growth)

The first chapter of the book is about the law of intentionality. Growth does not just happen.
In this chapter, John recanted a life transforming encounter with Curt Kampmeier.
Mr Kampmeier asked him one question that will change his life.
"Do you have a plan for your personal growth?"
While John was pondering on what this thought provoking questions he stumbled on eight misconceptions about growth that may be holding people back from being as intentional as they needed to be about personal development.

"This man's question long ago changed my life! Seeing Curt was one of the best Christmas gifts I've ever received. Why? Because personal growth changed my life. since my meeting with Curt back in 1974, I've planned it into my life, reading books, listening to great teachers, and developing measurable goals and plans to make it happen. I believe the consistent disciple of growth has made it possible for me to add value to people and achieve many of my goals. I believe it can be the same for you. And I'd like to help you as Curt helped me",
John Maxwell
Don't let these misconceptions stop you from intentionally growing

  • The Assumption Gap: many assumed that growth is automatic. It is not. The mind does not grow as the body does, you must be intentional about the process. No one improves by  accident. You must take complete ownership of your growth process because no body will do it for you. You can't pay some one to do you push ups.
  • The Time Gap: I will relate a riddle John's Dad always told them. "Five frogs are sitting on a log. Four decided to jump off. How many are left?" I would like you to share your answer with me. I will give the right answer after the first 50 persons have answered.
  • The Mistake Gap: Many don't grow because they are afraid to make mistakes. Is fear stopping you?
  • The Inspiration Gap: When you only do what is necessary when you feel like it then you are not ready for growth.
Check out the last four hindrances to your growth as you read through the pages of this great book.
Growth doesn't just happen-not for me, not for you, not for anybody. You have to go after it.

The 15 invaluable laws of growth (about the author and book)

John Calvin Maxwell (born 1947) is an American author, speaker, and pastor who has written over seventy books, primarily focused on leadership. His books have sold millions of copies, with some on the New York Times Best Seller List.I first came across this wonderful man's material during my national youth service in 2012. I served at Akwa Ibom state and I was privileged to make use of the Ibom E-library, built by Senator Godswill Akpabio, a true visionary leader. Since my first encounter with the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership, John Maxwell has become one of my mentors in communication and leadership.

He is the founder of INJOY, Maximum Impact, The John Maxwell Team, ISS and EQUIP(an international leadership development organization working to help leaders maximize their potential). EQUIP is involved with leaders from more than 173 nations with a mission of seeing effective Christian leaders fulfill the Great Commission in every nation. Each year he speaks to leaders of diverse organizations, such as Fortune 100 companies, foreign governments, the National Football League, the US Military at West point, and the United Nations.

I believe John Maxwell is the right man to write a book such as this.

John Maxwell has been passionate about personal development for over fifty years. Now, for the first time, he shares everything he has garnered about developing yourself so that you have the best chance of becoming the person you were created to be. He does it in the John Maxwell way:

  • THE LAW OF THE MIRROR: You must see value in yourself to add value to yourself
  • THE LAW OF AWARENESS: YOU must know yourself to grow yourself
  • THE LAW OF CONTRIBUTION: Developing yourself enables you to develop others
  • THE LAW OF MODELING: Its hard to improve when you have no one but yourself to follow
This book will help you become a lifelong learner (the aim of this blog) whose potential keeps increasing and never gets used up.

7 Personality Traits of a Great Leader

If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills and opportunities you offer as an owner, as a manager, as a parent. Jim Rohn calls leadership the great challenge of l

What’s important in leadership is refining your skills. All great leaders keep working on themselves until they become effective. Here’s how:
1. Learn to be strong but not impolite. It is an extra step you must take to become a powerful, capable leader with a wide range of reach. Some people mistake rudeness for strength. It's not even a good substitute.
2. Learn to be kind but not weak.We must not mistake weakness for kindness. Kindness isn't weak. Kindness is a certain type of strength. We must be kind enough to tell someone the truth. We must be kind enough and considerate enough to lay it on the line. We must be kind enough to tell it like it is and not deal in delusion.
3. Learn to be bold but not a bully. It takes boldness to win the day. To build your influence, you've got to walk in front of your group. You've got to be willing to take the first arrow, tackle the first problem, discover the first sign of trouble. Like the farmer, if you want any rewards at harvest time, you have got to be bold and face the weeds and the rain and the bugs straight on. You've got to seize the moment.
4. Learn to be humble but not timid. You can't get to the high life by being timid. Some people mistake timidity for humility. But humility is a virtue; timidity is a disease. It's an affliction. It can be cured, but it is a problem. Humility is almost a God-like word—a sense of awe, a sense of wonder, an awareness of the human soul and spirit, an understanding that there is something unique about the human drama versus the rest of life. Humility is a grasp of the distance between us and the stars, yet having the feeling that we're part of the stars.
5. Learn to be proud but not arrogant. It takes pride to build your ambitions. It takes pride in your community. It takes pride in a cause, in accomplishment. But the key to becoming a good leader is to be proud without being arrogant. Do you know the worst kind of arrogance? Arrogance from ignorance. It's intolerable. If someone is smart and arrogant, we can tolerate that. But if someone is ignorant and arrogant, that's just too much to take.
6. Learn to develop humor without folly. In leadership, we learn that it's OK to be witty but not silly; fun but not foolish.
7. Learn to deal in realities.Deal in truth. Save yourself the agony of delusion. Just accept life as it is—the whole drama of life. It's fascinating.
Life is unique. Leadership is unique. The skills that work well for one leader may not work at all for another. However, the fundamental skills of leadership can be adopted to work well for just about everyone: at work, in the community and at home.

3 excellent parenting tips that will transform your life

These three parenting tips will revolutionize your life and help you train up kids that can impact their world and bring joy to you.

1)  Work on your self

what do you mean by work on yourself, you may ask. What I mean is work on your self. You are your kid's first teacher, mentor, friend and leader. You don't expect to raise excellent kids while you are still struggling. You teach what you know but you reproduce who you are. Look all around you and you will see children behaving just like their parents. You don't have to be perfect but you must understand your weaknesses, try to overcome them and also help you children avoid them. Children are always watching even when you think they are not. You must teach them in the school of example because they will lean in no other. To lead outstanding kids tomorrow you must start leading yourself today.

2)  Self-governance

When children are infants and toddlers it is always exciting to do every thing for them. But most parents don't know when to call it a day on this stage of their responsibility. A time comes when you can not do every thing  for them any more. Every body at some point must make decisions for themselves no matter what their parents did. If you don't want to have a grown up baby, you have to start early to teach them to take responsibility for their actions. Also for those parents that have grown up children, you have to be aware of you limits before you will be tagged a limited liability parent. Enjoy the different stages of life

3)   Communicate

Talk to your children, Ask about their hopes, dreams, fears. Talk to them about their day, their friends and teachers. Communicate with them in play and in serious discussion. Did I hear you say serious discussion. Yes that's what I said. Children have brains too you know, they can reason too. Try correcting with words and see them change if they see that it is love motivated. Get talking with them before someone else gets them talking.

Can we have a positive change

We are living in the era of change. The government of the day came into power with the promise of changing our lives. Almost one year in to their tenor, we haven't seen the reality of the change we were promised. In all sectors of the country folks are complaining about the harsh reality we are facing as a nation. If we will be sincere with ourselves we will agree that this is what we all expected. People can not perform beyond their ability. How ever I think that those in power are doing their best, which is still not enough.
But can this country move forward?

The answer is a big yes. We can do better.
If we will have the change we so need, we all need to embrace personal responsibility to move this nation forward. Some sect are clamoring for independence. I don't think that is the solution. No matter how you divide water that is contaminated, it is still contaminated. Nigeria has been contaminated with corruption. While growing up as child in the 1990s, a particular tribe that some section of the country want to pull out from were the most sincere people to trade with. Right now they have also been contaminated.
Corruption is the real enemy of the Nigerian state. It is not only those holding public offices that are corrupt. Many can not be trusted, this something for nothing mentality is eating up the character and honour of many. People want to become rich but don't want to go through the process required. The principal who collects examination fee of one thousand must be a corrupt person. The man who avoids to pay his electric bill is corrupt. The project supervisor who expect his/her student to pay to be supervised must be corrupt. It is from the bucket you take a cup of water. Every criminal in the public sector was picked from among us. If we that are led will change those that are leading will change. If every one will clean his corner, the whole world will be clean. If you will change every thing will change for you. The change you are looking out to see is actually within you. The government can not solve all our problems. People are anxious to improve their circumstances without improving themselves; therefore they remain bound.
Change is not what you wait for, it is what you make happen.
As yourself, if every one in Nigeria were to be like you, how will this country be like.
"The value of life lies not in the length of days but in the use we make of it, a man may live long and yet live very little",Michel de Montaigne

In your corner, are you doing your best to make this country work? This country becoming paralyzed while many are making a career as analyst instead of becoming catalyst for change.

One Nigeria!

5 quick steps to release your unique genius

Most often we see people excelling at their academics and conclude that they are geniuses. There are many first class graduates that are last class in life. More still are second class upper graduates but living in the lower class of society. We all have an equal opportunity to be as unequal as we want to be. Genius is attainable by any one at any time in their life. There are so many who were ones considered dummies, who by their choice to excel became better at solving problems and thus discovered five powerful ways to express their hidden genius.
A genius is an exceptionally intelligent person or one with exceptional skill in a particular area of activity. Are genius born or made has been a question many have asked for a long time. I will not claim to have the answer to that question but what I know is this; so many have moved from the class of dummies into the class of genius and so can you. Dr Ben Carson is a notable example. Let us consider the five factors
  • Know yourself and why your here: Genius involves figuring out who you are, and owning yourself. Its about amplifying your best traits and compensating for the rest. There are billions of people in the world today, a few are succeeding exceptionally while a vast majority are failing miserably. What is the difference between success and failure? Is it based on parental background, community, government or church? In as much as all these factors influence people's level of success, many have succeeded despite disadvantaged backgrounds. There is a reason you are here. You are not here to do every thing, you are here on a specific assignment. You were created on purpose for a purpose. "We all have a part to play in life and all you can do is play it", Basam in the movie Tyrant". It is your responsibility to discover it. You can not display genius outside your purpose. I feel most alive when I teach because that is my purpose. Let me ask you a question? If money was not a factor what will you love to be doing right now. When you locate it, the world will locate you
  • Discover your hidden abilities: Abilities are given to fulfill purpose. Birds fly, fishes swim. Water has the ability to quench the need for liquid in the body acid doesn't. I love teaching and the ability to compose and transmit information (communicate) comes naturally. Its the easiest thing I do. I studied civil engineering at the university, how ever I have little or no interest in construction. The best I could have been as an engineer would be a local champion, but watch out where am going as a communicator. Can I tell you something? What you were taught in school will not make you great except it is tailored towards your purpose. You want to stand out? Stand on the abilities that come naturally to you.
  • Focus on your purpose: Greatness comes at a cost and that cost is focus. "this one thing I do" said Paul the Apostle, not 10 things. He that is every where is nowhere. The energy from the sun can cause a paper to burn when its rays are focused through a convex lens. Focus causes you to be on fire and when you are on fire people will love to come and see you burn. You have to focus on your assignment to make impact in life. Be focused and you will drill your pure genus from the core of your being.
  • Persistence: If you want to be a genius you must persist and insist. Genius does not come overnight. No classic is created overnight. That is one difference between other Hoods and Hollywood. John Maxwell, one of my mentors as a communicator said that in one of his leadership classes a man walked up to him to appreciate him for the insight he had given them This gentle man went further to say that he wished he had heard the leadership genius 20 years earlier. To that statement John replied, "You wouldn't have wanted to hear me 20 years ago". What made the difference between who he was 20 year before and who he was at the time they talked? Persistence. Persistence converts the freedom to be a mediocre to an opportunity to enlist yourself among the high flyers. There is a reservoir of genius in you, persist until the world sees it.
  • Learn from the best: Successful people are those that are willing to learn from successful people who have gone on the journey of success before them. Isaac Newton a genius in every sense quipped, "If I could see any further than others, it was because I stood on the shoulders of giants". You can only learn the best from the best. Who are you learning from? One of the ways I learn from the best is through their books. I have never met John Maxwell but there are just few of his books I don't have and haven't read. You see the wisdom radiating from a man's mind can be reflected to your mind through the pages of his books. The number one book to read, however is the bible because it is the word of the best of the best, God himself.
Genius awaits you, take responsibility and become who you were created to be.

cab ride

A True Story by Kent Nerburn

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. It was a cowboy’s life, a life for someone who wanted no boss. What I didn’t realize was that it was also a ministry.
Because I drove the night shift, my cab became a confessional. Passengers climbed in, sat behind me in total anonymity, and told me about their lives. I encountered people whose lives amazed me, ennobled me, made me laugh and weep.
But none touched me more than a woman I picked up late one August night. I was responding to a call from a small brick four-plex in a quiet part of town.
I assumed I was being sent to pick up some partiers, or someone who had just had a fight with a lover, or a worker heading to an early shift at some factory for the industrial part of town. When I arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window.
Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away. But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked. “Just a minute”, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened.
A small woman in her 80s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knick-knacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.
“Would you carry my bag out to the car?” she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, and then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. “It’s nothing”, I told her. “I just try to treat my passengers the way would want my mother treated”.
“Oh, you’re such a good boy,” she said.
When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, “Could you drive through downtown?”
“It’s not the shortest way,” I answered quickly.
“Oh, I don’t mind,” she said. “I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice.”
I looked in the rearview mirror. Her eyes were glistening. “I don’t have any family left,” she continued. “The doctor says I don’t have very long.”
I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. “What route would you like me to take?” I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.
Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, “I’m tired. Let’s go now.”
We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.
Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her.
I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.
“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse.
“Nothing,” I said.
“You have to make a living,” she answered.
“There are other passengers,” I responded.
Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly. “You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,” she said, “Thank you.”
I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.
I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?
What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?
On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life. We’re conditioned to think that lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware – beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

10 difference makers between the rich and the poor

10 difference makers between the rich and the poor

What differentiates the rich from the poor, the haves from the have not. What makes the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. Why is it that two persons can start of at the same level and end up in life at different levels as far from each other as the east is from the west. Is it the result of circumstance. Are the poor to be held responsible for their lot in life. I believe the difference between men when it comes to financial success is not based on family background, educational qualification, race or gender, it is based on the size and quality of their thinking. As a man thinks in his heart, the bible says, so is he. Wealth is simply man's capacity to think. The following are 10 basic differences between the rich and the poor.

  1. Rich people believe they create their life, poor people believe that life happens to them
  2.  The rich think big the poor think small
  3. The rich focus on opportunity poor people focus on obstacles
  4. The rich are bigger than their problems poor people are smaller than their problems
  5. The rich choose to get paid based on result the poor choose to get paid based on time
  6. The rich focus on their net worth, the poor focus on their working income
  7. The rich have their money work hard for them poor people work hard for their money
  8. The rich act in spite of fear, the poor people let fear stop them
  9. The rich people constantly learn and grow poor people think they know it all
  10. The rich people admire other rich and successful people, poor people resent successful rich people.
I bet you want to be rich. You need the mind of the rich to become rich. Developing these thought will attract financial wealth to you at a level you have never imagined.

5 ENEMIES OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTH

5 ENEMIES OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTH

I just stumbled on a short story that depicts the plight of the Nigerian youth. Take a read;

A man went to a fortune teller to hear what she had to say about his future. She looked into a crystal ball and said, "You will be poor and unhappy until you are forty-five years old"
"Then what will happen", asked the man hopefully
"Then you will get used to it", she said.
 The Nigerian youth has found him/her self relegated to the back in the community of youths in the world. This is not because we don't have the talent or the energy to compete with youths form across the globe but we have allowed ourselves to get used to some things. It bothers me when a young man, not physically or mentally disable, goes month to month without money in his pocket and he is not concerned. Its annoys me when I see young ladies in their twenties and thirties who should be dressing responsibly, packaging themselves to be respected and desired by a responsible man still dressing as though they are going to a high school prom or night club. It pains me when a young man in his late thirties and forties still call himself o-boy and actually behaving like a boy. We live in the twenty first century when you have access to nearly the same amount of information as a young person any where in the world has. I believe that any youth that fails in this time and age should be flogged by his/her ancestors. They would have given any thing to live in such a time as these. We are failing because we have become comfortable. We have become so used to the following;

  • Ourselves: We have being living in the same body all our lives so we have become used to it. We some times loose touch of the fact that we are getting old every second. I constantly put in the effort to remind myself how old I am. Can I ask you a question? If your little you sees who he/she has become will he/she be proud. When you were little did you admire people that are like who you are right now? Don't waste that child's life. That child that trekked to school, had nothing to eat, read all night to pass his exams. Be conscious of your mortality. You can live your life any way you want to but you can only live it once.
  •  Parents: Parents are very useful during childhood but they might be a stumbling block to your success if you remain comfortable being that little child that they cared for. Many Nigerian youths are failing right now because they don't want to declare independence from their parents. They don't think they can survive without them. Listen you will fail if you remain a daddy or mommy's boy. Most of our parents left their villages and their parents behind in search of opportunities in big towns and cities. Today they want to shield us from the challenges that made great women and men out of them. Can I tell you the truth most of your parents don't trust you. Tell the average Nigerian parent that you need 5 million naira to undertake a masters degree program and they will give you. But after that program tell that same parent that you need 1 million to start up a business, and they will say I don't have. Its time for the Caterpillar to become a butterfly. Its time to come out of your cocoons. The world awaits your beauty.
  • Being called Leaders of tomorrow: From primary school the Nigerian youth had been hypnotized to think that he is the leader of tomorrow. You can never lead tomorrow because you can never live in a day called tomorrow. This is why men that have ruled this nation twenty, thirty years ago keep recycling themselves. Listen you are a leader today. Youths out there all over the world are making impact, leading different spheres of human life while we sit and wait for   tomorrow. Friends we must lead today. You are not too young to be successful. Make a mark.
  • Blaming the Government: In almost every news paper stand you will see people talking about politics, politicians and how the government is not helping them. The government can not solve your problem, they can only subsidize it. You have to take up responsibility. No body owes you any thing not even the government. success is not something you are given you have to go out there and get it. If you will change every thing will change for you. Taxes by the government are heavy, but there are more taxes that are more grievous to us; we are taxed twice as much by our laziness, three times as much by our pride and four times as much from our foolishness. For these taxes no government is responsible.
  • Friends: A wise man said that you will remain the same way you are today five years from now but for the books you read and the people you meet. Many folks have become comfortable with their friends, You have to give up some friends to go up in life because you become the combined average of the five people you hang out with. The companion of fools gets destroyed. There are two kinds of people in the world; those who lift and those who lean. Don't get used to a leaner except you are posing for a photograph.
The Nigerian youth is capable of holding his own. I believe true change will start with the new generation of empowered youths. Share this post with your friends, as we take over our world.

5 INVALUABLE LESSONS FAILURE HAS THOUGHT ME

It was December, 2010 and I was at the verge of graduation from the university. I just performed my last act as a student, the defense of my final year project. Wow I made it, I finally succeeded! But the excitement was short live when I was called back by one of the invigilators who had discovered an error in my work, an error that will turn my whole world around. My certification page was carrying a name that was unknown in my department. I was immediately accused of malpractice, the panel had my project cancelled and i was given an extra year on the spot. You might be asking but where was your supervisor? Oh thanks for asking. I almost forgot to tell you that he had traveled outside the country a few weeks earlier. A thousand things ran through my mind. the future suddenly became so dark. I could see my friends graduating without me, going to national youth service without me, getting jobs before me, I could see....................................... It was as though the universe was in a conspiracy against me. I have fail! I have failed my parents, family, friends and myself. The five months that followed was hell on earth. I became depressed, suffered insomnia and had a high blood pressure.
          In the fifth month I began to rise from the valley of the shadow of death by the mercy of God. I didn't come out alone. while i was coming out of that pit where no water is, I came out with the following truths about failure that has changed my life and can change yours to;
  1. Failure is a choice: what? you may exclaim. If failure is a choice then no one will fail right? Wrong! Every thing on earth is governed by laws. Success has its laws and so does failure. You don't directly choose to fail or succeed. You succeed by choosing to obey the laws of success and you fail by disobeying the laws of success. Whether you are a success or a failure in life has little to do with you circumstances, it has much more to do with your choice. You make your choices and you end up being made by them. Looking back at the choices I made before that day, i confess that I chose up till then to fail.
  2. Failure is a journey not a destination: Most people think that success and failures are destinations, but they are not. Success or failure can not be summaries by an event. People see a man that is given an award, earn a million dollars, given a leadership position and suddenly think that such a person had become successful, so they pray for the event to come their way. Those who saw me on that faithful day crying in public might have thought that i just failed that day. No! I had been on the journey of failure long before that day. People see failure as an event, so they pray against it. Hear me, people are awarded or punished in public for what they have being doing or failing to do in private. If I may ask, what journey are you on? check yourself.
  3.  Failure is not final: On that day I thought failure was final. Am glad to tell you its not. If you are going through any of life's challenges, there is hope. Remember you are going through. You can still be successful. Life's obstacles can stop you temporarily, only you can stop you permanently.    "success is not final, failure is not fatal; its the courage to continue that counts", Winston Churchill.
  4. Everyone fails: Most times we are tempted to think that successful people are failure proof. They are not. Everyone fails but not every one is a failure. Those who end up as failures are those who spend their life avoiding it or who use it to build a castle of excuse for why they can not go any further. Don't be afraid to fail. I have failed but I got up, looked it in the eyes, said Adieus, walk away and never looked back. Rise up and walk out of that failure, you have encamped about it long enough.
  5. Failure is not the enemy: Failure is not you enemy, believe me. let me tell you what it is
Failure is a teacher; learn from it
Failure is a foundation; build on it
Failure is a gift, trade with it
Failure is a message; tell others about it.
Finally friend, its true you have failed but you can walk out of it, I did. You can still be successful after failure, I am. There is life after failure, live it to the full.

3 Reasons You Must Be Happy if You Want to Attract Success and How You Can Do it

3 Reasons You Must Be Happy if You Want to Attract Success and How You Can Do it

Have you ever thought of happiness as an asset? Even the best of accountant will most likely not include it as one. Your Happiness is the most valuable asset you have. With it success is sure but without it success is but an illusion. Yesterday, I went to repair my computer at a very busy spot in my city Portharcourt. I was there about an hour before the repairer came. While waiting for his arrival, I witnessed countless persons in a hurry towards where they earn something in order to be Just above broke. Some would have preferred that I called it a job. A few looked excited, others showed know emotion, while a vast majority looked as tough they had just been given a life sentence. I thought to my self, surely these persons will not perform at the same level. I thought to my self, if i had the opportunity to give a piece of advice to these fellows what would I have said? If I had the opportunity to have a one on one with them this is what I would have said;
Me: Hello, my name is Charles
Fellow: My name is "I love this post"
Me: I bet you want to be successful?
Fellow: Yes I certainly do
Me: If you want to be successful you must be HAPPY
Fellow: How does my happiness affect my success?
Me: These are the 3 reason you must be happy if you want to be successful
  • People are attracted to happy people: No one not even a little baby want to look straight into an unhappy face. No one succeeds without other people. One is too small a number to achieve greatness. The more you have the right people around you who have been attracted by the happiness radiating from you, the faster you attract success. John Wesley said, "when you set your self on fire, people will love to come and see you burn". Don't try this at home. But when you are burning with the fire of happiness people will love to come and see you burn.
  • Happiness fosters good health: The writer of proverbs who said that "a merry heart does good like medicine". Lack of happiness has resulted in some chronic disease like cancer, diabetic and high blood pressure. When any person is buoyant in his health surely his drive for success will be limited.
  • You readily help others: Unhappy people are too focused on themselves to see and attend to the need of others. Solving need of others increases your value and influence in their lives and will ultimately qualify you for the opportunities for success.
Fellow: How do i experience Happiness?
Me: Do the following
  • Make the choice to be happy: You, not events, have the power to make yourself happy or unhappy. If you want to be happy, be.
  • Make some one else happy: You don't get happiness by going in search of it, you get it by giving out to others. Those that sow happiness in tears shall reap in happiness in joy.
  • Make you dwelling among the happy: Happiness is air borne, a happy environment is contagious. Being a kids teacher in church had made to understand this for a fact. Children are ever happy. Its impossible to be surrounded by children and be depressed.
Me: HAVE A HAPPY LIFE AHEAD

FOUR QUICK QUESTIONS THAT WILL PROPEL YOU TO SUCCESS

FOUR QUICK QUESTIONS THAT WILL PROPEL YOU TO SUCCESS

The difference between people is in the questions they ask. Right questions are the best place of miraculous destinies. People fail not because they don't know any thing but because they don't know enough. If a man knows better, he will do better but knowledge is a product of questions asked. These four questions will undoubtedly change your life
  • Why: many are living their lives on auto pilot. when the purpose of a thing is not know, a wise man said, abuse is inevitable. Why do you want to be successful. What will your life be like when you eventually succeed? How will it impact on your family, community, country and the world over? The depth of your why will determine the height and stability of your success. Becoming successful requires sacrifice. Many don't pay the sacrifice because they are not seeing the big picture. That big picture is your why. It was said of Jesus Christ that for the joy that was set before him, he endured the cross. He had a big enough why, do you? If you don't begin to make the list.
  • Why not: When some people are given an opportunity to be successful, they make excuses. You don't need more than one excuse to exit the road to success. But i want to ask you, why not see how much you can make. Why not see how many people you can help. This question kills excuses that excludes many from the exciting journey to success.
  • Why not you: If any body has ever been successful why not you. If a woman is the president of Germany why not you. If someone out there is impacting on their world why not you. If someone has bounced back from failure to be successful, why not you. What ever some one had done in any field is no longer impossible. That means you can do it too. Stop watching other people make things happen and begin to make impact. YOU CAN! Take up responsibility for your destiny. If you will ever be successful its up to YOU.
  • Why not now: What are you waiting? What ever is worth doing is worth doing badly until you do it well. Don't wait for the right time. Now is the acceptable time. There will never be a perfect time to do a great thing. Every thing we can we started by failing at it. No more procrastination. Get to work on your dreams. There is a world out there that has your name on it. How long will you keep it waiting?

WHO ARE YOU

                                WHO ARE YOU

Most times when people are asked this question, they are found lost for words. I have found my self in that situation not a few times. I read a story that radically changed the paradigm of how I saw my self. Enjoy the short story
A beggar sat on a branch in the park. Dirty, his dog too was just
as he was. Not long after, an artist came and started drawing an image of the beggar.
He drew the beggar and at the end he showed him. It was not exactly as the beggar
thought it would be. He said, "That's not me".
He drew the beggar in a nice clean suit, his dog was drawn cleaned up and shinning.
The beggar was wearing the best of cloths money could ever buy and said "what is this?"
The artist replied, "that is the you i see in you". The beggar responded, "if that is the
me you see in me, i choose to be what you saw in me"
This story has helped me as a teacher. I am always under this positive delusion that all the kids in my class are good for something. I make it my personal responsibility to make them see that they are suited up for success. But for most people out there, who they think they are is not who they really are. Most people live all through their lives as complete strangers to themselves. Can i ask you a question, do you know you? If I could come and have a one on one conversation with you, there is one thing am sure to see. Greatness! Do you know you matter. If you told me you don't I wouldn't believe you because that's a lie. You were created on purpose for a purpose. I encourage you to take yourself to lunch. Enjoy the meal of solitude tonight, goodnight.

     A CALL TO LEADERSHIP

This is the 21st century. A time of challenges as never been seen in the history of humanity. A time of suffering, hunger, economic melt down and for most counties of the world, economic vaporization. Unemployment has risen to an all time high not only in the third world counties but in those who in the valley of delusion think themselves to be first world. In the midst of these economic, political and religious crisis is a desperate call for leaders to take up the responsibility to effect the needed change to the 21 century predicaments. Men and women from all nation, tribe and tongue. People who know that if  the world most be better for us and the generations yet unborn then we need to take up our cross daily where ever we are found. The future is not in any nation of the world as many may think. Friends the future is in you. In a world so deficient in leadership the oasis seeks to create an enabling environment for leaders to both emerge and thieve. Every one was created with some unique ability which when harnessed transforms such a person from a random generality to a meaningful specific (A LEADER).
"every thing rises and falls on leadership"
